Just had to post my last '3-day experience'.
I had just spent 3 SOLID days with the new.... Adobe Muse ver7. (Needed to see what all the hype was about from Adobe and to get it out of my system)
I'm not posting with the intent of bashing any software, and I won't. Just some quick facts.
While it allows for some very sophisticated and easy to implement tasks, it's the simple things, and some expected things it just can't do, or, to do them you need quite a few external programs. Now for the good stuff. Just some short points...
How would you like to be building your site, adding some 'on-screen', 'within' the app text... and when you preview, either with the app, or in a browser, it looks like hell. IT CAN'T RENDER fonts correctly unless they are converted into graphics.... (not good, right?) LOL
Before you jump at me.... I spent a minimum of 6 hours online and in the Adobe forums.... AMAZING! It's a major problem! And all users get for a response is that Adobe has no control how various browsers render fonts... well thanks for that. I'm no techie, but how can lil ol' Serif do it?
Here's a better one. It only has 3 effects. Drop shadow, bevel, and outer/inner glow... besides how terrible they are.... GET THIS.... They can't be applied to text directly unless.... READY? the text is rotated at least 1 degree. And if you rotate it back, the effects is gone... LOL
You doubt me? Pop into their forums for 10 minutes... after that 10 minutes, when you get back here, you will be thinking the WPX6/7, and Serif are the greatest things since putting a man on the moon....
The only comparison I can make is... their forums is like being in a fire-fight in 'Afghanistan', and being here is like having a little 'snit' with my wife.
I could go on (really, I could LOL) but I think a made a point here.... the point is when I got back into WP, it felt like coming home....
All that for $14.95 + tax per month... X's 12 ='s a hefty price year after year... (the 'Creative Cloud' thingy) Maybe good for the pro's, but I'm just a little schm__k trying to get along in cyberspace... and need some powerful, 'simple' tools for some help.
While Muse DOES offer some amazing features that I wish I had here, (ALL, can be done, with just a tad more work) what's the point... 'bad font rendering' - 'rotating text to put a drp shwdo'... amazing!
I fully realize the WP has a few issues, as does ALL software, but my God, the other side of the fence is a horror story. I can easily deal with the Serif people and their great products, they have been fantastic for me.... I can even deal with the hard sell, now-and-again phone call...:) What's the big deal? I get calls from EVERYBODY. I learn the word 'no' at a very early age, and know how to use it when and if a need to.
Anyway, that's the short and short of it... just thought I'd pass it along for what's it worth....
