Due to various problems I'm having to throw together a website to see if I can sell off some Christmas hand-decorated candles and some festive essential oil blends that I had left over from a Christmas Fair.
I'm stuck with no income for about a couple of months after a fall 3 weeks ago that left me with a fractured left wrist and a severely sprained ankle.
I had hoped to sell these on that well-known auction site, but appear to have fallen foul of them somehow. Despite clearly stating these were my own hand-blended essential oil scents for room use, using real essential oils and that I am a qualified arometherapist, the listing was cancelled - apparently it "showed similarities to listings that have resulted in bad buying experiences, such as complaints from buyers that the item is of poor quality or inauthentic. Based on these similarities, please don't relist these items on eBay. For more information about our replicas, counterfeit items, and unauthorized copies policy, go to...." Replicas, counterfeit  - I had checked all this out before hand. I wasn't claiming them to be perfumes or cosmetics; they were my own recipes so I couldn't be upsetting anyone's copyright.... and then to add insult to injury I then recieved another message with a temporary restriction on selling anything for 7 days - not that I could really go far on 10 items in a month anyway. SM:MAD
Rant over - so, apart from trying to get some specific reasons exactly where I've erred and always receiving emails from different people each time, with the same ruddy generalisations, and getting nowhere fast, and with time being a very big issue, I've been literally throwing together a basic website. I'm just about to sort out Paypal buttons, but I only have limited numbers of the different types of candles.
So what I would like to know is - is there a way to display the amount of units left available after being sold in each transaction. So in theory the total amount shown on the website will be going down. 10, 9, 8, 7 etc...?
I don't want people clicking the buy and then finding the item is no longer available, having gone through the payment process.
Although this is my third website, the others are mostly informational, and therefore quite easy to put up with WebplusX4. This one, being a more commercial venture, looks to be a little more complicated and I'm pretty much a rookie when it comes to the behind-the-scenes aspects.
The site is to be a little sideline, allowing a different additional income stream, show-casing examples of my crafting work and gently easing into the craft sales market for hand-decorated and personalised craft items, such as candles, greetings cards, canvas wall art, etc.
The original idea had been to spend a little time in the new year putting my site together in an organised manner, prettying up the pages, etc., and having some stock in hand, as well as examples for show.
Because of my accident, I now need to be able to get in whatever I can income-wise, as being self-employed, no work = no pay. Hence the rush. In all honesty, I'm feeling very brassed off with it all, and quite sorry for myself at times, as whichever way I turn, I seem to be tripping up over never-ending obstacles. SM:CRYING
But I am determined to follow this through now, and hope that some of you out there can point me in the right direction and help me on my way. :)
