WebPlus X6: OpenRequest Fail and Not Getting Uploading Files dialog box
Hi all,
I've got 5 websites that I updated with this year's copyright date. Four (all with one host) worked fine.
The final one on a different host (godaddy) keeps giving me the "There was an error opening remote file xxx for writing (OpenRequest Failed)" error.
I've searched the forums and tried a couple of things (including the passive upload, reentering password, etc.) and nothing's worked. I called godaddy and they said they were able to upload a test file using filezilla and it worked fine so it must be my problem.
I did notice that when I Publish to Web, after the first dialog box where it lists the ftp account info, etc., it doesn't give me the secondary dialog box that I've always seen - where it asks if I want to do a full or incremental upload. It just goes straight to trying to publish.

WebPlus X7: Installation problems - slow & crashing
Sorry if this has been posted about before... I have tried searching WebPlus X7 threads but keep getting screen message that there are no other threads when I click to go to another page - even though I can see 12 pages of threads listed!
I'm using Windows 7 HP and have just installed X7. That is about as far as I can get. Everything else I have tried to do is resulting in hanging/crashing. I tried to open a copy of my main site (created with X6, 14MB, around 200 pages), gave up after half an hour of nothing on screen except the little blue circle whizzing round. Only way to get out of it was to click the 'x' top right of screen. Message popped up that the programme was not responding.
Restarted X7 and closed the start-up wizard expecting a blank page ('site 1') to appear but ten minutes later still nothing on screen except the little blue circle. Once again trying to exit X7 I got the message that it was not responding.
Restarted again and tried to open a site I have just started in X6. It is only 120KB and was created using a Serif template. The only work I have done to it so far is renaming the pages, adding two images, two text boxes and a facebook widget on the homepage plus a logo on master page A. So far this site has been loading for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Is this normal? I do appreciate that it will take some time for X7 to convert a file from X6 but if it takes over an hour to convert a basic 120 KB file, how long is it going to take to open my main site?
Has any one else experienced this problem with X7? Should I uninstall and try reinstalling?
Update: While writing this post X7 has finally displayed "(Not responding)" at the top of the screen after 1h25m of waiting for a basic file to open!
Also I forgot to mention that I did install the patch before trying to do anything else. So far that is the only thing I have been able to do!

The current setup is as follows:
The clouds and fading blue is a png set in site properties>background to top center. The tree are set to bottom center.
The darker blue is set as the site background in site properties as well. (Once I figure this out, it will match the end of the fading blue, I made it darker to point out the problem).
On the bottom, where it says "site created by AR", there is more background blue??? Where is that coming from, I can not figure it out.
It does not have to do with the "site created by AR" being on a panel, same problem applies without it.

WebPlus X6: Title and Alt tags in a JS lightbox gallery?
Hey guys
I've been trying to search the forum looking for info on whether or not it's possible to add ALT & Title tags to images within a java script gallery? My goal is to try and optimise my images for seo but have had little luck as to whether it's even possible.
I am able to add the tags to the gallery itself by right clicking and checking HTML export options, but not the actual individual images within the lightbox gallery.
If anyone wants to see what I'm talking about here's an example of what I'm doing on my site.
Any help would be appreciated! :)

Help needed please
Had a friend build my a website using WebPlus x6 very happy with site it suits purpose.

With my type of business I need to update new acts/artists on a regular basis, he suggested I do it myself from my own laptop.I downloaded Webplus x6 and installed, I imported my website he created via Import Web Pages.
I did all the alterations and updating and proceded to Publish the ammended site - all seemed well and everything uploaded until I tried to view my website and got a 403 Forbidden Error - my friend had to re-upload his original made site without the ammendments.
My question is: Is it possible to download this website from the creator in this way update it and then try to publish it myself? and is it possible to send the newly created ammended/updated file that I did back to the original creator to publish on his computer?
I am not familier with web building and or publishing so if there is a simple solution to this be gentle with me.

WebPlus X6: Site not updating!
Stupid question maybe, but I am updating the copyright footer on a client's site to 2014 and, although the Home page has updated, the other pages do not update?
I have tried doing a full upload and refreshed my browser but to no avail. I save the site before uploading but again this does not sort the issue.
Any help is most appreciated.

WebPlus X7: Client Login
Hi,
I am contemplating creating a website that my clients may use as a cloud computing site. Initial thoughts are for them to compute their standard costs (that in all probability will change). Anyway, the thought is for them to login to their own page to do some calculations and come up with some answers. My questions are: Has anyone done something of this nature? What software would work best online? It may be that each client has their own needs at their own portal. What challenge would that present? As I go along I believe that I will narrow my focus, but for now I want to see what kind of trouble I would be getting into.

WebPlus X6: Top Fluid Width Banner without using Panels or BG Function
What I'm trying to do:
Create a top banner image for a webpage which will auto-resize to browser width without using background function in WP and without using panels.
Eventually also I would like to place images at fixed points down the page that have fixed height but 'fluid' width.
I would like to use this technique in conjunction with supersize or similar. (is there was a way to use supersize (slideshow) AND the bg function in WP? Have tried but no luck)
The image I'll use will probably be horizontally tileable but am looking for a technique to achieve the same result with normal pic as well (am aware of implications for quality and sizing etc).
If anyone has a bright idea would really appreciate the help..have been wracking what brain cells are left and now have headache

Problem with Pro flash gallery.
Hi all,
After updating my website my picture gallery doesn't show in Chrome. Instead it shows this: "error slideshow data not found. check xml file path and type"
It looks fine in Internet explorer.
Please can you check on your browsers and if someone has an answer to this please let me know.

Avery Labels are Letter not A4 (from DRAWPLUS BUG)
I am experiencing other problems with label printing on DrawPlus X5/6.
I seems impossible to use any of the Avery templates on A4 sized sheets. All of the templates are set up for Letter and impossible to change. No such problems experienced with PagePlus. Business card templates appear to be the same.
Since nearly all of the Serif products seem to use the same underlying functionality in a number of cases, why is there a difference between DrawPlus and PagePlus in printing publications?

Does anyone have an idiots guide on how to add an additional author to a serif blog. I have spent ages trying to understand the instructions on the serif user guide and am pulling my hair out as I am getting nowhere with it.

DrawPlus X4: Help in coloring background.
I finally got my GIF down to size for a banner but didn't realize that it was transparent. Can I add a white background after the fact? Hopefully not starting from scratch.

PhotoPlus X5: Where is my pdf print output?
I often need to print an image or other creation from PhotoPlus X5 as a pdf doc. I select the Adobe pdf printer, set the parameters for the print, select the output folder. When I press print, it shows a little box that says Printing, then the box closes. When I go look for the file, I don't see it anywhere. What am I doing wrong? In order to get a pdf of an image that I create in PhotoPlus, I have to save it as a jpg or similar file format, then insert it into a Word doc and then print the pdf file from Word. I would rather not have to go through the extra steps.
Can anybody give me a hand with this?

also any changes I make are not seen. (using ie 11)
looked on chrome, changes were there, but still went to home page on F5.
made another text colour change, now both ie 11 and chrome do not see the small change ?

WebPlus X4: Cannot find Resource File (problem)
Hi guys
Having just built myself a new Computer, I have swopped all my old hard drives from IDE to SATA
No problems with New Websites I am building but there is a problem with the first existing one that I transferred over.
When I tried to open it up, I get a message saying that it cannot find the Resource File, where I get asked if I would like to create one (or something like that)
The only way I can see it, is by clicking 'No to all' but having done so, some of the photos are missing and I have to insert them manually every time.
I am dazed and confused by this and don't know what I am supposed to do, so the Web Site is complete like it was on the old IDE drive.
I should point out that all the photos are on the new Sata drive, it seems to be that the Web Site doesn't know where to find them.
Which is what I'm presuming the resource file is all about, whatever that is?
Please assume that SM:HELPI know absolutely nothing about this.

I need master pages, styles and artwork that will enable someone with no artistic ability (myself) to produce a great looking magazine by just dropping in the textual content. I am somewhat familiar with PagePlus so I will be using that to produce the magazine, which will be litho printed. There will be some ongoing work as well. WebPlus X4: Google maps problem
When I preview the page in an internet browser the map loads for a second then disappears.
Also when I try to edit the map in webplus I get a message telling me I'm not connected to the internet although I am.
So I can't add any place markers.
Any help with either of these issues would be really wonderful.
